ROOM
Warm wood meets modern design. The living room has a 100-inch screen that feels like a private cinema, and the modern kitchen, bath and washroom are ready for longer stays. Carpeted bedrooms with indirect lighting and a flexible room for work or yoga give 1 to 10 guests plenty of space. Beyond the windows, a garden opens onto the forest, and the seasons feel close.

Story
A farmhouse built in 1968,
passed down for more than half a century
UBAKU Villa 宇莫別荘 was built as a farmhouse in Nakaubakubetsu, a small settlement in Biei. We kept the original posts and beams, let light into the once-dark rooms, and finished them with white walls and pale wood floors so the forest and hills outside take center stage. A house that stood empty for years is once again a place where people gather.

Living Room
At the heart of the house is a living room with a large 100-inch screen, a private theater for films and sports. Gather with friends, or enjoy a quiet movie with family on a night of your trip. By day, light pours through the large windows and the room becomes a lounge in the soft sun.

Kitchen
We took great care with everything that supports daily life here. The kitchen has a gas stove, an oven and even a rice cooker, so you can cook with vegetables and dairy from the nearby supermarket. A meal around the large dining table can become the best memory of your trip.

Bedrooms
The bedrooms are finished in calm colors and soft light, so each day can end in comfort. Carpet underfoot and gentle indirect lighting give them the feel of a fine hotel. Sleep deeply in the quiet, and wake the next morning to birdsong.

Flexible Space
Arrange this room however you like. Use it as a workspace, roll out a yoga mat for a small studio, or sleep here when your group is larger. It is a space that gives your days a little margin.

Books & Games
A small bookshelf in the living room holds photo books about Biei and Hokkaido's nature, books on architecture and design, and novels to read slowly on a trip. Find something to unwind with on a quiet evening or during a daytime break. Othello, playing cards and Jenga are here for you too.
